Coming Soon Another Space Camp Themed Movie
So here is my data dump on the next movie to film at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center later this year.
The movie is being directed by Sean McNamara who directed/produced the movie Soul Surfer (great movie by the way) and is also known for producing/directing several other children series including That’s So Raven, Even Stevens and The Suite Live Movie.
McNamara isn’t new to rocket drama and the concept of Dr. Von Braun. In 2001 he produced the movie Race to Space which started James Woods. The movie followed the transition of Dr. Wilhelm von Huber’s son to a new school as his dad worked to launch a rocket for the United States space program. (My kids are big fans of this movie)
While the script is still being worked on we understand the movie will have some hints of the original Space Camp movie. Sorry guys no shuttle launches from Huntsville but there will be a tie in to kids helping astronauts along with a rival team.
Casting for the movie has started and the lead youth role has been cast to Thomas Horn who is currently starring as Oskar Schell in Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close.
Filming schedule has not been narrowed down yet (currently slated for sometime this spring into summer) but the movie is scheduled to air in Spring of 2013 as a part of Family Movie Night presented by Walmart and P&G.
